If you have heard about Pondicherry, Auroville, the Mother or Sri Aurobindo, you must have seen a beautiful symbol.

In March 2011, I saw the symbol and was quite intrigued by it. Since then, I have been exploring it. As I dived deep into this symbol, I was overjoyed to understand its spiritual significance and how it can be used to lead a divine life.

The circle at the center represents the Supreme Mother (Aditi), the Mahashakti. The four surrounding petals represent the four aspects of the Mother.

The inner four petals are four aspects of the Mother – Maheshwari (Wisdom), Mahakali (Strength), Mahalakshmi (Harmony/Beauty) and Mahasaraswati (Perfection).

In the outer circle, eight petals represent attributes of Sincerity, Humility, Gratitude, Perseverance, Aspiration, Receptivity, Progress and Courage. These pertain to attitude towards the Divine. The remaining four represent attributes of Goodness, Generosity, Equality and Peace, are attitudes towards humanity.

All the twelve attributes have a flower attached to each one, based on its significance, as defined by the Mother.

Session on the Mother’s Symbol An introductory session is for one hour and the comprehensive session is of one day duration. Key take-ways from this session are learning the significance of the center, the four petals, the 12 attributes, significance of the flowers and how one can integrate the 12 attributes in daily life as a practice and raise consciousness and happiness.

The session has been curated to provide a highly life-nurturing experience, through joyful, simple activities and the whole person engagement. On 7th November’25, Vibha was intuitively guided by the Mother to design this session. She gratefully acknowledges Dr Alok Pandey’s book (The Mother’s Symbol), for the clarity it provided regarding the symbol.
